We're not in Europe any more!

Map of Singapore, taken from the online version of the CIA World Factbook, which is scary but copyright-free.

Allson Hotel, Singapore

Made it! I had finally arrived in Singapore and I was sitting in my plush air-conditioned room at the Allson Hotel. I was on the 16th floor - the Executive Floor I'll have you know! - and I was luxuriating on a leather sofa. How's that for stylish?

A busy international executive such as myself needs to be housed on the Executive Floor.

Inside my room: Plush, air-conditioned comfort. Wardrobes and minibar to the left. Bathroom to the right.

Another view inside my room.

There was a fantastic control panel device in the room, which allowed me to operate the lights and air conditioning from the comfort of my bed. Superb!

My room again. Any guesses what is happening on TV?

Looking out of the window, I saw lots of other high-rise buildings.

Singapore by night

Air conditioning is a lovely thing. I went for a very brief stroll earlier this evening, just before settling down to write some diary notes. I wanted to take some photos of Singapore by night, so I walked up Victoria Street a little, and by the time I returned (about 15 minutes later) I was sweating! It was incredibly warm and humid. Daytime temperature 31°C apparently... Better be careful!

Some pictures from my brief stroll on my first night. Some of them suffered from non-tripod camera shake, which was to plague the rest of the trip...
