Trains, Planes and People Who Look Vaguely Like Soap Stars

Dee from 'Neighbours': One of the Virgin Blue stewardesses looked a bit like her, but was in fact someone else.

Virgin Blue

I (just about) caught the Virgin Blue plane from Brisbane to Sydney. It was a 90-minute flight - a little better than a 12-hour train trip, I feel.

The weather was clear on the way down, so I could get a good view out of the window. Sea, mountains, flat bits. That's essentially it... It's probably just as well that I didn't go on the train.

Sydney trains

To get from Sydney Airport to the city centre, you can go on the train. They have double decker passenger trains here.

DOUBLE DECKER TRAINS!

Sydney Central Station. A view of the side of one of the newer double-decker trains. At each end of the coach (i.e. between the doors and the end) there is a single level of seats, with enough room for luggage, etc. In between each door there is a double-deck section. You either go down some stairs or up some stairs to reach your preferred deck. Upstairs was probably better...

Sydney Central Station. An artistically blurred (OK, just blurred) photo of one of the older double-deck trains.

Think I might have to have another go on them!
